#5: SanDisk microSDHC 32GB Card

Senin, 28 November 2011

693 of 697 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars How to detect fake Sandisk micro SD 32GB, 6 Feb 2011 This review is from: SanDisk microSDHC 32GB Card (Personal Computers) Any attempt to look for some advice to buy a genuine Sandisk microSD (any strength - in my case a 32GB card for my Samsung GALAXY tab) is met by a plethora of internet-based opinions and information as regards the masses of fake cards flooding the markets these days....most originating from some wheelie bin outside a Chinese factory.

Human that I am, I looked around for a week and realised that dependable sellers (Amazon, Play.com, PC world etc) were all selling a Sandisk 32GB card for ? 70-85 while the shady ones (Amazon marketplace, eBay etc) were dishing them out at ?25-40! Hence, I decided to try my luck (and money) and bought one card from eBay after an extensive search. It cost me ?35.00 + ?1.98 and the seller was a `power seller' with 100% feedback. Nothing could go wrong......or I assumed huh...?

As explained below, it was a fake and after a bit of wrangling (and legal threats!), I got my money refunded. Wisdom dawned upon me and I then bought a genuine one from Amazon UK for ?69.99 which was delivered free inside 24 hours! Being at the receiving end of a con, and in the absence of any constructive advice available, I have made the following tips to help the next customer - hope this helps:

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GENUINE AND FAKE Sandisk 32 GB micro SD: (see my self-explanatory photographs for each point)

1. Package: The genuine pack is sealed and cannot be split open. The fake is just pasted at the edges and my fake item was all loose inside. Again, as far as I am aware, Sandisk does not provide any SD adaptors (Kingston does) but nearly all eBay items have a `free adaptor' inside the same pack.

2. Check the barcode: If you have a iPhone with a barcode facility (like a Amazon/eBay app), check the barcode on the reverse of the pack. My fake eBay item barcode read 4GB instead of 32 GB.

3. Check the external details: Sandisk, currently only makes Class 2 for its 32 GB micro SD cards and I confirmed this from Sandisk helpline in the US. eBay sellers are selling fakes as `Class 6 - 10' !!!

4. Check the inner details: Once you open the pack, check the card. All genuine cards should have a serial number and a manufacturing country's identity. Fake ones neither have any such details and the external details are painted in a hazy style (see photo).

5. The Catch: When you put in a fake micro SD card for the first time, you will be surprised to find that it reads the correct GB in the properties. Apparently the goons have made a software which enables the card's storage properties to give out a false capacity. One way to check this is to copy at least 60% date of the `claimed' capacity and check the card in 2-3 days time. There will be lost data in all fake ones.

6. Finally the functionality: Download a simple programme called H2testw (ver 1.4) from the internet. It is German software and the most recommended to test all your portable media including micro SD cards. My fake one showed only 3.96 GB capacity instead of 32GB as claimed.

7. Where to buy: spend the extra bit of money and buy from genuine big dealers. Amazon is always one of my foremost places but keep away from Amazon Marketplace since the same firms also sell in eBay i.e they are mostly shady and refunds will need a lot of wrangling. Of course, you might occasionally be lucky (as yours truly had hoped!), but one would probably need to be as dumb as me to follow my steps (till I became wiser!.

Hope these steps help the next prospective buyer. Feel free to correct me if you do not agree!

I was a little hesitant buying this at first as it is a Class 2 card.

I was going to wait for a Class 4 or 6 but decided to bite the bullet as I could not wait. I'm glad I didn't wait as this card performs like a Class 6 card - I get write speeds of 6-7MB/s and read speeds 9-11MB/s on my HTC Desire.

I wholeheartedly recommend this card, regardless of the Class speed you're after.

I can't comment on the seller 'Accessory-Shop' though, as the card I purchased was sold by Amazon directly.

However the cartridge you get is NOT the one shown in the advert. The one shown in the photograph is the TRUE large volume cartridge which is what I expected to receive - I have one on the desk in front of me and it is about 25mm thick. The one you will receive is about 12.5 mm thick. The bigger ones were available and should be made available if they are being promoted via the Amazon website.

A bit more regulatory work by Amazon with supplier promotion is required

The 364 range give excellent performance, print quality and durability. Photos do not fade as with other inks and documents look crisp and smudge free. I use mine in the photosmart c309g. Amazon is always best for price especially on marketplace. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

However, I'm less impressed with HP. The old XL cartridge contained sufficient ink for approx. 800 pages, the new version only has ink for 550 pages. The price per page for the 3 types of standard black 364 cartridges work out at:

1. Standard 364 cartridge, 250 pages, ?0.025 per page.

2. New 364 XL, 550 pages, ?0.023 per page

3. Old 364 XL, 800 pages, ?0.024 per page.

Although the new XL cartridge has the lowest price per page, it will need replacing on a more regular basis which is a pain that I could do without.

392 of 398 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Bargain price for top branded card, 24 Oct 2008 Just how cheap can this memory get ?

I am using this card in my Kodak Z1015 HD video capable digicam, the card is fast enough to cope with HD video to be continuously streamed to the card, I recently shot a continuous 29 min video with no problems whatever (8GB would have given me much longer)...it seems just great

This card is classified as a "class 4", which means that it must have a minimum write speed of 4 megabytes per second, this seems fast enough for my purposes, other cards are classified at class 6 (6 mb/s min), so its not the fastest, but it seems fine for video

Just a note though....make sure that the device that you plan to use this card with is SD HC compatible as some older devices wont recognise this card

I am sure that memory will get even cheaper, but this seems like a great price to me, high street retailers often charge three or four times this price...Sandisk is a well known brand name too...great value

SanDisk has been my favourite memory card manufacturer for many years now. The 8 Gb card has a huge storage capacity and like other cards, it is simple to transfer files to and from. As for pricing, SanDisk is relatively cheap when compared to other brands and yet performs excellently. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

#6: TeckNet iPad 2 Folio Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand For Apple iPad 2, With Magnetic Sleep Wake Sensor Feature - Black

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

139 of 142 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price, 29 Mar 2011 This review is from: TeckNet iPad 2 Folio Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand For Apple iPad 2, With Magnetic Sleep Wake Sensor Feature - Black (Electronics) Length:: 1:57 Mins

This is an excellent case for anyone looking for a quality, functional, attractive leather case for an ipad 2.

QUALITY: This case is well made with quality PU materials. My impression is that it will be very durable. Time will tell.

PRICE: This is a substantially better case than a similar leather case I paid ?40 for.

SLEEP MODE: The cover works great at putting the ipad 2 in and out of sleep mode.

COVER FOLDS BACK: The cover also folds all the way back and lays flat. A feature sometimes lacking in other cases.

PROTECTED CORNERS: The manufacturer did a nice job of protecting the corners by slightly extending the edges out.

NO FUSS DESIGN: The case has an elegate, simple design. Case is quick to adjust.

SNUG FIT: Case fits well. The ipad 2 doesn't move. Leather stretches so I'm hoping it stays snug

SECURE: The ipad 2 appears to be very secure in the case. A fold of leather and velcro keep it secured.

BUTTON ACCESS: The case allows easy access to all of the buttons and features of the ipad2.

BORDER OF SCREEN: The case is cut back away from the screen slightly to allow easier access to the edge of the screen.

SMELL: My case arrived in great condition but did have a slight chemical odor that went away in a short period of time.

ANGLE OF ADJUSTMENTS: The angles on this case are a little too steep for my taste. The steepest angle makes the case tend to fall forward in some situations. This is a minor criticism and really just a matter of preference.

APPEARANCE: Professional, streamline, quality look. Nice enough for the board room.

Overall, a great ipad2 case.

62 of 63 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Total no brainer - just buy it, 16 April 2011 This review is from: TeckNet iPad 2 Folio Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand For Apple iPad 2, With Magnetic Sleep Wake Sensor Feature - Black (Electronics) I was in 2 minds whether to get the smart cover (price sort of put me off) or the official case. But I read the reviews of the case and for a ?30+ product I was very wary. I saw the Tecknet case and the reviews and thought that under a tenner it was worth a try. I needn't have worried as it is a great case with full front/back protection, neatly aligned slots and a nice flag to allow the ipad to stand high or low in landscape mode (not sure of the techy terms!). I bought 2 of these as my son really liked the look and feel of it. I would say it has a luxury leather look to it, it definitely does not look cheap.

A friend has the smart cover and was showing off how it turns the ipad on and off if you open/close it. Don't worry as this is an ipad function not the case so the Tecknet case also does this!

All in all the perfect case for what is a pretty amazing gadget. You really don't need to look anywhere else.

A+++

124 of 128 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, finally a good case, 14 April 2011 This review is from: TeckNet iPad 2 Folio Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand For Apple iPad 2, With Magnetic Sleep Wake Sensor Feature - Black (Electronics) Its so hard to find the right case for these iPad 2's, and I am hoping my experience could help someone out there finding the same problem.

I've gone through several cases. I started with some Belkins from Carphone Warehouse because I needed something quick before a trip. First, I bought a zip up slip case that left way too much play and seemed baggy (20?), thats all they had that day. I traded that one in a few days later and bought the Belkin Slim Folio Flip Case (35?). This one had a fantastic outside look and a snug fit - but there was no velcro on the inner flap that secured the ipad!! So whenever in stand position, the iPad would slide down and the buttons would be out of line, headphone jack out of line, home button behind material.. pathetic, it required constant reseating. Additionally the build quality on the inside was poor; the face of the case outlining the iPad screen wasn't even straight, not even flush with the pad, leaving lots of room for stuff to get stuck under the flaps. The stitching was some rubbery material that was uneven and inconsistent and it looked terrible while trying to frame the iPad. for 35?!! I traded that one in for a Griffin Elan Sleve case - although it was for iPad 1, it fits the IPad 2 pretty snugly and offers full protection on all corners and a securing strap at the top (30?.) I had to keep that one because carphone warehouse doesn't allow refunds - I like it, it looks great, but it doesnt offer the stand capability which I missed from the Belkin case. Good for securing for travel, at least my ipad now was secured in some sort of case.

So I still wanted a flip folio. I went online with the benefit of time now and browsed available cases offering the flip functionality.. ordered the BMCdigital Advanced Pro PU leather case for 20?. After recieving it, and seeing how cheap it looked with a piece of grooved plastic on the top of it (??) and frankly it looked like it was made for the iPad 1.. i sent it back for a refund. By now having spent all this money on cases and getting poor quality I realized that money doesn't necessarily translate into quality cases. Up till now none of the cases i tried even offered the auto on/off function.

I saw this case and saw that it had 5 star reviews with a super low price, and after seeing how pleased people were I pulled the trigger, tired of gambling 30? at a time for a case. Just received it today and I need to tell you, this is a great case

Pros
- The lines are straight, tight, it fits flush with the iPad 2, the iPad 2 looks high value and high quality sitting in there
- Grip is good, no movement of the top lid
- The stitching is good, doesnt look cheap
- Front and back have cutouts in the right place, fake leather looks good, case is simple but elegant.
- VELCRO STRAP keeps this thing securely held in
- Auto on / off works great
- Sturdy stand position, really looks good in stand position, and not too much material.

Cons
- The right sides of the ipad are especially exposed to bumps and scuffs- actually all 4 corners are explosed to some degree from debris that can come in from the sides, only the front and back planes are protected so you should still be careful with this.
- You can get dust and debris coming on on the sides
- Might want to get a sleeve to go around this whole thing for traveling or putting in a bag to be sure

All in all - fantastic folio case, unbeatable price, actually would have paid 20? for this and been happy, considering its better than many 35? cases out there.

#5: Kingston DataTraveler 101 Gen 2 8GB USB Drive - Red

14 of 14 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Reasonably fast, low cost drive with built in desktop software, 14 Sep 2011 This review is from: Kingston DataTraveler 101 Gen 2 8GB USB Drive - Red (Personal Computers) There are a few things I like about this drive. First, the cost per GB capacity, a lot cheaper than some other drives. The swivel USB connector cover, because I'm always losing the caps from my other USB sticks. The stylish looks. The hole in the swivel cover so I can attach a lanyard. The reliability I've become accustomed to with Kingston memory products.

Speed wise it's not the fastest, but perfectly adequate for my needs of transferring large files from one PC to another. I'm getting around 19MB/sec read and 6MB/sec write. If speed is really important to you then you should consider something more expensive like the Corsair Voyager Corsair CMFVYA8GBGT 8GB Flash Voyager GT USB Flash Drive

When you plug in the drive you'll find it isn't empty, it contains Kingston's own UrDrive software, if you run this it installs a dedicated desktop (on the stick not your PC) which will pop up whenever you plug the drive in. It's basically a fancy 'windows explorer' that allows you to organise the files on the drive easily. Some may like this, I don't because it takes up space. I removed it easily by reformatting the drive. If you want a closer look search for 'How to use a USB with urDrive' on youtube.

Oh, and if you reformat it, remember to use FAT32.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: 4.0 out of 5 stars Good USB drive (but some unnecessary software)., 2 May 2011 This review is from: Kingston DataTraveler 101 Gen 2 8GB USB Drive - Red (Personal Computers) This is my first Kingston purchase. Working fine on windows 7 home premium 32 bit via a usb 2.0 hub, nice size, appears quite solid. My other memory stick is an Integral rubber coated one & it feels more durable than this one, but time will tell. I have the 8GB version (they have clumped all the reviews together), it actually has 7.45GB of space - some used up on extra software. You do have the option to obtain an extra 2GB of online storage for free. A capacity meter shows how much space has been used on the flash drive.

The basic software is very good, it allows you to drag & drop, you can play music from within which will play on your media player. Also you can view slides of your pictures, watch video etc. & there is a search facility to find your files. Software updates can also be found. There is also a basic user guide & instructional video from within & of course news about Kingston products & their website - all good & quite simple to use.

The bit I'm not so keen on is the extra software: Secure browser, & Password manager, they sound good but look quite complicated to use & a lot of reading would be required to master them. Still I don't have to use them. There is also an application zone for an assortment of apps that are either free or can be purchased. All I needed was a memory stick to back up my data, but I believe besides my opinions on some of the software, I have got a good product here that will be well used.

I have 2 laptops 1 HP and a Toshiba both with SD card readers, neither like SDHC so I had to buy a USB SDHC reader and it works a treat. I will point out that this is not the fault of the card or card manufacturer, but if you have to have a bigger card then its new technology and you will need new kit, otherwise buy 2 2Gb cards they will be OK. 53 of 55 people found the following review helpful: 4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin, 29 Jan 2009 This review is from: SanDisk 4GB SDHC Secure Digital Card (Electronics) Firstly, ignore most of the reviews for this product rating it at 1 star. The majority appear to be from people who didn't realise the difference between 'SD' and 'SDHC' and seem to feel either Amazon or Sandisk are responsible for their ignorance. SDHC cards are a newer technology that allow higher storage capacity, and therefore older cameras are not compatible.
As for the card itself, it does the job fine. Access times are a little slow, so if your always in a rush I'm guessing you'd be better off with something from the Sandisk Extreme 3 range. No complaints at this price. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?
